OUR HISTORY

Since 1986

In October 1976, a group of friends founded the association " LA PASSERELLE " in Watermael-Boitsfort, an accommodation center for children with disabilities and welcomed its first boarder.

In 1996, 20 years after its creation, " LA PASSERELLE ", was this time confronted with the  lack of space for its elders and launched into the opening of 'un  New Center   accommodation for adults with disabilities: " LES BOLETS ".

Meanwhile, one of the experienced educators takes the initiative to create a day center for disabled adults in order to bring added value to their lives, coupled with physical activity in the open air.

The non-profit association " TIMBER " thus came into being in 1986 in the form of forestry exploitation combined with the sale of heating logs.

DAY CENTER

Located in Brussels near the Forêt de Soignes, the day center offers logging as its main activity. From felling to delivery of the log to the customer, our lumberjacks take part in all stages of our activities.

The center offers young people coming out of special education a place of activity that allows them to do real work while taking their limitations into account. These young people who have difficulty in providing the performance required by adapted work companies or who lack constant profitability, will be able to receive vocational training there.

They can thus access a more rewarding status, which is that of the worker. The productivity aspect is weak, the encouragement mainly concerns the quality of the work carried out and not the quantity.
